Brooke Marshall - pictureWalla Walla, Wash. – Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) has announced Brooke Marshall as the college’s new vice president of Human Resources. Her first day at the college is August 1.

Prior to WWCC, Marshall served as the human resources director for the Blaine County School District (Hailey, Idaho) since 2019. In that role, Marshall led employee recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefits administration, retention, classification and evaluation for more than 500 employees—the county’s largest employer. She was also the Title IX officer for the school district and held an active leadership role in the Superintendent’s Cabinet.

While at Blaine County School District, Marshall expanded health and wellness benefits for employees, conducted classification and compensation studies, acted as a labor negotiator in several successful collective bargaining agreements, and served as a member of Board Subcommittee Housing Work Group responsible for designing and implementing a program providing rental assistance to qualified staff.

In total, Marshall has more than 18 years of human resources leadership experience in the public sector in Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon. Marshall holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Oregon and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon School of Law.

“Brooke brings extensive experience to the college at a time when we are actively seeking to further enhance how we recruit, orientate and retain WWCC employees,” WWCC President Chad Hickox said. “It is quite apparent that Brooke has the skill set to continue fostering a Human Resources team and organization that fortifies individual expertise, collaboration, institutional capacity, and organizational culture.”

Marshall is joined in Walla Walla by her husband, two sons and two rescue dogs. Her adult daughter is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Scotland.

As a member of the college’s executive team, Marshall is tasked with developing an organization that maintains and attracts a highly skilled, well-trained, diverse, motivated, and productive workforce.

“I strongly believe in helping employees discover their strengths and develop their capacities in order to achieve the goal of a happy and healthy workforce,” Marshall said.

Marshall replaces Sherry Hartford who is retiring following 17 years of service to the college.
