Loan Information
The William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program offers low-interest loans for students to help pay for the cost of education after high school. The lender is the U.S. Department of Education rather than a bank.
Your eligibility for Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans is based on the information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). No interest is charged on subsidized loans while you are in school at least half-time, during your grace period, and during deferment periods. Interest is charged on unsubsidized loans during all periods. Click here for more information about how your loan eligibility is determined.

The Direct Loan application process at WWCC consists of three parts:
- requesting loan funds by submitting a Direct Loan application (2012-2013)
- acknowledging the terms of the program and your responsibilities by completing Direct Loan Entrance Counseling, and
- accepting your loan by completing a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note.
We encourage you to wait to apply for Direct Loans until you have received information about your eligibility for any grant funds.
