Open Textbook and Coursework Catalogs
These places have catalogs of open source or creative commons textbooks.
The Assayer: self-proclaimed largest catalog of books that the author has made free. Particularly great for boosk on math, science and computers.
CK-12 Flexbooks: K-12 level, adaptable, textbooks on a variety of topics.
Connexions: Rice University's open coursework and texts. Allows for outside collaborators. There are a variety of topics in this category.
Flat World Knowledge: this company is an open source for-profit publisher who provides open source materials. Students can read electronic texts for free, or can pay a small fee for print on demand services.
Global Text Project: This University of Georgia project, funded by the Jacobs Foundation, seeks to create open content for educating at a global level. There are some great books on sociology and psychology on this site.
HippoCampus: Monterey Institute for Technology and Education is providing access to quality media and information on a variety of topics.
MIT: Open Courseware: MIT has made the material for all of their online courses free for anyone to use at any time.
Online Books Page: Hosed by Univeristy of Pennsylvania Libraries, this is a large database of out of copyright or open source works.
Open Textbook: A repository of open textbooks on many topics.
Wikibooks: From the creators of Wikipedia, these books are open content and are editible by anyone.
