Agriculture Students Win Big!
On January 29 and 30, seven WWCC students traveled with their agriculture advisors to compete in the statewide Postsecondary Agricultural Students competition hosted by Spokane Community College. WWCC students excelled in many events finishing either first or second statewide. These students are freshman and sophomores at WWCC. Some will be transferring on to four year institutions, while others plan to immediately pursue careers in the agriculture industry upon graduation.
First place finishes included:
Employment Interview: Agribusiness Sales
Employment Interview: Livestock Production
Employment Interview: Fertilizer & Ag Chemistry
Second place finishes included:
Employment Interview: Agribusiness Administration
Debbie Frazier and Matt Williams, the WWCC Agriculture Advisors are very proud of their student’s accomplishments. They said, “The icing on the cake at the conference was seeing the students work seamlessly as a team and take first place in the College Bowl.” The College Bowl tests students’ comprehensive knowledge of the agriculture industry. It is extremely fast-paced and competitive. Team members included Eliana Bolt, Rachel McClure, Grady Gfeller, Jack Wright, and Cory Erstrom.
All of these students are now qualified to compete at the National PAS competition in St. Cloud, MN from March 12-15, 2014.
